Town of Centerville Leadership
The town of Centerville is run by elected officials, including a mayor and a board of ten aldermen. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall in the Courtroom. When there is additional business, the Aldermen and Mayor will also meet on the fourth Tuesday.
Elections are held in October every four years, with the next election occurring in 2029. When an unscheduled vacancy occurs, the town conducts a special election to fill it.

Horner has been employed by the City since 1998. As City Recorder, Horner has worked for the Board of Aldermen since 2019
The Recorder performs administrative tasks and manages records, including preparing the agenda for the Aldermen's meetings, preparing the ordinances and resolutions, and taking meeting minutes. The Recorder keeps an ordinance book and a resolution book, which are recorded and indexed once adopted by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The Recorder manages the city's finances, including investing idle city funds.

Duties of the Mayor
The mayor serves as the chief executive with substantial administrative authority, including supervising city departments, writing the annual budget, enforcing laws and ordinances, and holding veto power over the Board of Aldermen's legislation. The mayor also appoints members to boards and commissions, subject to aldermen's approval.
Mayor Garry Greer has been a dedicated resident of Centerville for over 40 years. Elected in October 2025, Mayor Greer is committed to returning the Town Square to a vibrant hub of commerce and community, reflecting the town's unique music and artistic talents.
A lifelong advocate for local service, Mayor Greer brings a strong work ethic and extensive leadership experience to the office. Before his election, he served in numerous civic roles, including:

Mayor Greer’s career spans over 40 years in local business, where he retired as vice president of McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. He and his wife, Barbara, are proud parents of two children and five grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys supporting local car shows and spending time with his family.

Board of Aldermen
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen serves as the city's primary legislative and policy-making body. They have the final say on city matters. Their main jobs are to pass ordinances that update the Municipal Code, approve the annual budget, and decide whether to hire new staff or appoint department heads and city administrators.
Key Duties and Board Structure
- Legislative Power: The board passes laws and ordinances on local topics like traffic, animal control, and utility rules. Usually, these need to be approved twice before they become official.
- Fiscal Oversight: The board reviews and approves city purchases and ensures funds are managed effectively. They work with the mayor, who prepares the initial budget draft.
