New Water and Gas Services
We are pleased to serve you at the Town of Centerville. We need some information to set up your accounts.
Household Water
The Town of Centerville is blessed with an exceptional water supply from nearby Swan Creek, one of the cleanest and most beautiful streams in Middle Tennessee. You'll also need to set up your wastewater (sewer) information to have a household water account. We require you to fill out an application. We require your social security number, driver's license, and a $150.00 deposit. When you terminate your account, we will refund $100.00 of the deposit. We also require a Cross Connection Survey to protect the water system from contamination.
Renter
If you are a renter, we must also have a copy of your rental agreement or a letter from your landlord authorizing us to turn on services in your name. You will be required to make a $200.00 deposit. When you terminate your service, $150.00 will be held as your deposit and refunded or applied to your account. Blank Permission Letter.
Household Water Plus Natural Gas
You'll also need to set up your water and sewer accounts as above. We require your social security number, driver's license, and a $255.00 deposit. When you terminate your account, we will refund $200.00 of the deposit. We also require a Cross Connection Survey to protect the water system from contamination.

Billing Information
We bill our customers in four billing cycles; you will pay for the water or natural gas you have used. Your first bill will be for the previous 30 days of service. The due dates for the bills depend on your location. Your bill is mailed ten days before it is due. If it is paid on or before the due date, you pay the Net Amount. If you are late, you will be assessed a 10% penalty and must pay the Gross Amount. If your bill is not paid by the 10th day after your due date, your service will be suspended, and you will be required to pay the bill and a $50.00 reconnect fee. This fee must be paid upfront and cannot be added to your bill.
Utility bills are handled in City Hall, not with the water or gas departments.
Inquiries should be directed to [email protected].
Forms and Applications
Residents occasionally need additional forms to secure services or make payments more manageable. You may find it easier to download some of the forms before visiting City Hall to set up your accounts. You can also call the Town of Centerville Business Office at (931)729-4246.
Bank Draft Authorization. This document can be printed, mailed, or brought to the business office to set up your utility bill account for automatic bank withdrawal. You must attach a copy of a canceled or voided check with the application.
New Business License
Are you considering opening a business in Centerville? If so, please visit the TN Department of Revenue website at www.tn.gov/revenue.
