Shanon Dale Irwin, Centerville’s police chief since 2012, died March 19 at his home. He was 50 years old. He battled liver and pancreatic cancer since diagnosed in 2023. He continued his work until a few weeks before his death.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Chief Shanon Irwin of the Centerville Police Department after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
Chief Irwin was a great husband, father, brother, Christian, leader, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Please keep his wife, Sydney, and children Cole, Wyatt, and Hannah in your prayers during this tough time.
"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit." This verse offers a sense of God's closeness and compassion during times of grief". Psalm 34:18

The Centerville Police Department reported the following matters in recent days, according to reports held by the department:
According to Tennessee's Source Water Assessment Program, Centerville's water meets all of the EPA’s health standards. The program conducted numerous tests for over 80 contaminants that may be in drinking water. However, it detected only 11 of these contaminants, and we found all of them at safe levels.
Centerville Water System has had minor violations of drinking water requirements over the past year. Even though these were not emergencies, you, as our customers, have a right to know what happened and what we are doing to correct these situations. During the first quarter of 2024, we failed to monitor for Total Trihalomethanes and Total Haloacetic Acids per our Stage 2 LRAA Monitoring Plan. We collected the required samples two weeks before the scheduled date.
No unregulated contaminants were above the MRL (minimum reporting levels).
