Santa brought his sled and reindeer to Centerville for the annual parade through downtown on December 7. The long march featured lots of kids, lots of flashing emergency vehicles, a long line of floats and lots of candy.
The Centerville Police Department reported the following matters in recent days, according to reports held by the department and documents on file in Hickman County General Sessions Court:
— On December 2, a 16-year-old Hickman County High student was cited to Juvenile Court for possession of alcohol. School Resource Sgt. Patrick Brady reported that a container of beer was found in the student’s vehicle.
— On December 6, a Centerville Police Department K9 unit checked vehicles in the parking lot of Hickman County High. School Resource Sgt. Patrick Brady reported that one vehicle was found with four vape devices and three cans of dip. The 16-year-old student was cited for possession of a prohibited item.
Municipal elections in Centerville may no longer operate on a five-ward system, if the Centerville Board of Mayor and Aldermen approves a revision one more time.

Volunteers and donors helped Hope Church and Papa Kay-Joe’s distribute 520 free meals on Thanksgiving Day to anyone who came by. Devin Pickard, owner of the restaurant and minister of the church, said the number of meals was more than double the first such event, seven years ago, when 250 were distributed. More could have been distributed he said, had food not run out. More will be ordered next year.
