Utility Billing
The Town of Centerville manages approximately 4,500 utility accounts. Sewer and Sanitation accounts are limited to those within the city limits. Gas and water accounts extend beyond city limits, where water and gas lines make services available to a much larger area.
Becky Martin manages the accounts to ensure proper billings. She also sets up automatic bank drafts for customers who prefer to have the bank make their payments automatically.
One point of confusion, Becky reports is, the City always bills for the prior month, not the current month. That allows a grace period and time for the post office to deliver mail to and from City offices.
Billing Information
Your first utility bill will be for the previous 30 days of service. We have four billing cycles and four due dates, dependent upon a customer's location. Your bill is mailed ten days before it is due. If it is paid on or before the due date, you pay the Net Amount. If you are late, you will be assessed a 10% penalty and must pay the Gross Amount. If your bill is not paid by the 10th day after your due date, your service will be suspended, and you will be required to pay the bill and a $50.00 reconnect fee. This fee must be paid upfront and cannot be added to your bill.
